Watch the evening news, read any media news outlet, listen in on some of the conversations around you – it doesn’t take much to recognize that something is wrong with the world we live in. From Syria to discontent with our own lives, it seems that almost every sphere of our existence isn’t quite the way it’s supposed to be. Something feels broken.
As Christians we believe the Good News that Jesus came to restore and redeem all things. God didn’t avoid our broken world. He entered into it. A right relationship with God gives us hope that things don’t have to stay broken – God is redeeming all things. What God has done for us he desires to do for the whole world. In fact, the Gospel takes us even one step further – we can actually carry the Good News into the broken world and be agents of its redemption. In short, we can be a part of God’s work in making broken things whole even as we are being made whole.
Starting the third weekend of September, this series will take a closer look at some of the areas of our world that are broken, and call us to be a church in the world that brings wholeness in Jesus’ name. We’ll look at matters outside of us as we well as matters deeply personal.
