Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Relief

9/8/17 UPDATE: We’re watching Hurricane Irma and praying for all impacted. Donations may now be made to “Hurricane Relief” so that we can also assist Florida if needed.

The name “Harvey” will never be heard the same way again. We’ve all been glued to the media coverage of the hurricane that devastated Houston and surrounding areas. We see a world in disorder, out of whack, awaiting redemption, and we believe that redemption will come fully when Jesus returns. In the meanwhile, Jesus has empowered the church to participate in the work of new creation: to bring hope and healing, rebuilding and restoration in his name.

For that reason, we are mobilizing our resources to help bring relief initially, then restoration to the city. We are releasing $10,000 now for emergency supplies to partner organizations – Samaritan’s Purse, ReachGlobal, and a local congregation. During the next two weekends (Sept 2 & 3 and Sept 9 &10), we’ll be taking a second offering for Houston relief in addition to our regular one.¬†Will you join me in giving sacrificially to the work of rebuilding lives and communities in Jesus’ name? If you plan to give by check, be sure to include “Houston Relief” in the memo line. An online giving option will be available too.

Stay tuned for¬†opportunities to be a part of short-term relief trips in the near future. It’s going to take lots of hands over the long haul to see this city get back on its feet. Let’s pray the local church would represent the risen Jesus well in the days to come.
