Emily’s Baptism Story

Emily’s Baptism Story

My name is Emily Choe and I am a freshman at Glenelg High School. I love playing sports and meeting new friends through my teams. Every chance that I get, I try to spend as much time as I can with my family and friends.

Before I trusted Jesus, my life was all about me and I didn’t have Jesus’ strength which I needed. Through all the struggles in my life with school and friends, I always knew something was missing from my heart, but I did not know it was Jesus. All of my thoughts were negative, and I never saw the true beauty and meaning of life. With everything I did, I would always put myself down and worry about every little thing. Going to church every Sunday was just a routine, and I never wanted to go. I knew who Jesus was, but what I didn’t have was, a relationship with Him. When I played soccer and basketball I did not have the best attitude on the field and I hardly ever smiled. I felt lost and alone during these days and thought that life had no meaning.

There was a point in my life where I could not go any longer living the way I did with all the negativity flowing through my mind. These thoughts reflected to how I acted, my attitude, and the person I was. A few months later, I went on the Spring Retreat in 2017 not knowing that this was going to be the turning point of my life. Through all the worship, discussion, and prayer, at the retreat, I was emotionally and spiritually moved. I soon began to realize how my life is in God’s hands and that all glory should go to Him. During cabin time at the retreat, I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart as my Lord and Savior, and at that moment I realized that Jesus was missing from my heart. I filled that gap in my heart with unnecessary things that did not praise Jesus, but now I was saved and strengthened by Jesus.

My new and transformed life does not even compare to my old self. Jesus has opened my heart to making new friends and spreading His word to all my friends. I hardly ever smiled, but now it is hard to catch me without a smile on my face. I love being positive and helping others who are struggling like the way I did, through Jesus and teaching them about Him. Every morning before school, I wake up and spend time with God in prayer, journaling, and doing my daily devotional. Jesus has shown me that if I trust in Him, I do not have to worry or fear anything. Now knowing Jesus, I know that I am never alone and am always loved. I no longer feel lost because Jesus has pointed me in a new direction and now, everyday is a new day to glorify our King! I know that without Jesus’ strength and wisdom he pours down on me, I could not do this alone. Everyday I try to be more like Jesus and I am always looking to how I can grow even stronger and closer to Him. I love sharing my testimony amongst my friends, and most of all I love praising and giving all thanks to Jesus.

I am getting baptized to publicly show my love for Jesus Christ and to show that I surrender and put all my trust in Him.
