Congratulations Jill Maddox!

Congratulations Jill Maddox!

We would like to take the opportunity to give a special shout out and congratulations to Jill Maddox, Director of totZone and GraceGEMs, for winning the 2017 Celebrating Successes for Children Award in the Mixed Age Group category.

Jill Maddox and Tim Siemens receiving the award

Jill was honored with the award at the 18th annual “Celebrating Successes for Children” ceremony organized by the Howard County Office of Children and Families on April 26, for her work here at Grace Community Church in which she has walked side by side individuals and families who are going through difficult times.

Jill’s Work at Grace

Tim Siemens, Executive Pastor of Care and Ministry, nominated Jill for this award, specifically citing her work with GKmoms and GraceGEMs.

With GKmoms, Jill has helped connect young moms to a community of other moms who are walking through the same stage of life and share similar concerns, creating an environment of encouragement and support.

With GraceGEMs, Jill has helped to make it possible for families with children with disabilities to attend church.  She has gathered volunteers to pair up one-on-one with individuals with special needs, designed specific rooms where these individuals can still engage with services, and organized respite events in which parents could bring their kids to the church and take time to themselves to relax.

Over the past year, both of these ministries have grown tremendously, and Jill’s heart behind the work has always been centered on offering hope, encouragement and love to the families.

In nominating Jill for the award, Tim wrote, “What sets Jill apart is her commitment to come along side by side with the individual families.  She learns their needs and connects them with the best resources.  She rallies the resources needed to speak to the needs they have shared… and she is a constant source of hope when hope is running thin.”

Once again, congratulations to Jill!  Thank you for all of your hard work and the genuine love and encouragement you bring to many families.
